Meet Jonathan Maberry, instructor for our all-day nonfiction
writing intensive to be held the Thursday prior to the conference.
Since the minute I agreed to coordinate the 2010
conference, I knew I wanted Jonathan to lead this session. Not only has he been
a popular presenter of one-hour classes at our past two conferences, but as a
writer, Jonathan has a wealth of experience to draw upon. His passion for
writing and his drive to make it work for him — really work for him — is obvious, and he’s more than willing to
share all of that with all of us.
Jonathan has structured this class to give
nonfiction writers an up-close and personal look at the world of nonfiction
writing. Check out the bookstore shelves today, and you’ll find ideas for
nonfic books everywhere: food, travel, hobbies, pop culture… Just bring a great
idea for a nonfiction book to this class, and Jonathan will help you shape it
into a proposal. You’ll get expert advice on outlines, platforms, marketing,
and writing for a nonfiction audience.
To ensure direct feedback on writers’ works, the
class will be kept to no more than 15 writers. All types of nonfiction writers
are encouraged to apply.
