For anyone who’s seen CJ at our previous
conferences, you know what a dynamic speaker she is. Add to that the fact that
her query letters get results —she’s got a great three-book series with Berkley
— and that makes her the perfect person to present this half-day preconference
class on queries.
CJ finds that the key to successfully
pitching a novel is to think of querying as a process. If you’ve got a finished
work of fiction in hand and you want to sell it, you need to be ready for any
opportunity that presents itself, and that opportunity could be at the bar at a
conference, by snail mail or e-mail, or through a formal face-to-face pitch session with an agent
or editor.
CJ has designed this class to help you
develop not only the words you’ll need to describe your book in a concise and
appealing fashion, but also the confidence you’ll need to talk to people about
your book. It includes a critique of your pitch letter and a chance to practice
your pitch, which makes it an exceptional way to warm up for the conference!
This class is limited to 16 participants. Read
more about the specifics below. If you still have questions, please contact me
